I believe Joel D meant "SILENCER" I saw where someone else made a comment that it made a big difference in sound. Probably depends on how hard you get on the throttle.

Noise silencer, removed mine, SLIGHT difference in sound when you really put-it-to-the-rugs :D
I machined a nice piece of Aluminum to go in the hole and used a standard hose clamp.

If you must pick on spelling mistakes, don't make any in your repley :D

Thanks guys, never would have guessed that one!

Silencer, I think GM should go back to the drawing board cause mine doesn't work, engine is loud as hell.... tongue.gif

Besides being a silencer, does it have a useful purpose?

I wasn't pickin' on ya Joey D. I was concerned that if the guy had absolutely no idea what the heck it was in the first place, "SIENCER" may have further confused him. (After carefully proof reading my "reply" a second time I found no misspelled words;)

No useful purpose that any shop has ever been able to tell me. My 95 caprice also had a "silencer" It was about the size and shape of a home plate on a baseball diamond! Needless to say it is gone also. the one that car did make a difference. They try to tune the size of these thing to harmonically match a noise frequency that they deem bad and supposedly it eliminates it. Sounds real good on paper! :D
Diesels are Gods gift to people who want to be noticed! Why should we try to change something that He made so perfect! :D ;) tongue.gif
You spellchekers are reelly going to have fun with me!

Ok Joey D Sorry, but the point's the same. I was just trying to help clarify something for a guy who wanted an answer. That's what the board is really for. nuf sed ;)

Don't mind me Joey D. I'm just kinda grumpy cuz I have "issues". I've had new oil cooler lines and a remote oil bypass for about a month now but having trouble finding time to install them. NOW, this last weekend I have a clickity-click starter AND a P0251 code (maybe IP time)

The resonator made a big difference in our Suburban. When I changed to the round filter, I did not install the resonator. Intake noise was way up, enough that my wife complained about it. I installed the resonator and there was a noticeable decrease in noise - from the truck & the wife!

Mike, We all have issue's, thats why we are here. Some with truck issue's some with other issue's, like me tongue.gif

Lots of folks didn't get to see the sun come up today and some that did won't see it go down!
For the rest of us there is always tomorrow.
