View Full Version : Ford gave up on the V6 diesel.....
Ford Motor Co.'s about-face on plans to offer a V-6 diesel engine in several light-duty truck models for the 2002 model year accounts for nearly half of the $456 million restructuring charge announced Tuesday by Navistar International Corp.

Man that sux big time. :( There are not enough
diesel choices as it is, especially in the new
car market. Over in Europe, almost anything on
4 wheels is available with or comes standard with
a diesel. But then again, the fuel prices over
there are horrendous!
I have a 2001 VW Jetta TDI 5 speed. Great little
car that gets almost 50 MPG. It's a shame that
most Americans are brainwashed (so it seems) that
diesels are noisy, smelly and underpowered.

Chris, that's a nice car you got there smile.gif My wife and I are completely diesel now since we got the DMAX. Since you're on thedieselpage I'm guessing you're leaning towards the DMAX as well?

Over on the Ford site the administrator is claiming that the DMax V6 is also dead. Anybody have any info if that is correct or just wishful thinking by the Ford guys?

TDIwyse, I got my eyes on a 2003 GMC 2500HD D/A
shortbed SLT with 4 doors but sticker shock set
in! Can't quite justify $46,000 for a new pickup.
Especially when the same thing with a gas engine
is about $10K less! I can't believe the general
public is so brainwashed and GM can get away with
asking almost as much as what a new VETTE costs
for a pickup?? The Dodge I am driving right now
cost me $28K and it is a loaded SLT Cummins QC
4x4. The GMCs are sweeeeet don't get me wrong but
the prices are rediculous.
