View Full Version : Extra! D-Max Sound Level Shocks Dodge Owner
So my buddy and I are walking out of the DMV at lunch the other day and I say, "Look there's a Duramax getting registered".
Then I look up at the parking lot entrance, spot a set of Duramax tags and say, "There's ANOTHER one turning in right now."
When the truck accelerated to turn in the driveway through a hole in the traffic, my Dodge driving buddy said, "That's not a diesel, you can't even hear it."
Then it drove right next to us in the parking lot. You could clearly see the D-max emblem and hear the 6.6 tick and he said simply, "Amazing."
Let me repeat that,
"Amazing"

BWAG, Real trucks rattle.....and fall apart..you must be driving a D@&G%. Enough said.
JD,I had a Dodge-its clear to me which truck will fall apart-the fact that the Gm trucks are 4-500 lbs lighter than a Dodge tells the story-the engine is only 200 lbs lighter-the allison is heavier. The sheetmetal and all brackets pins/bolts on the new HD' are thinner. The chevy doors will be falling off,and the bed too- before the Dodge's,nothings for nothing, the light weight will bite 3-5 yrs from now when the truck is falling apart, the new GM;s are getting like toyota's,you can dent them just by lightly leaning against them. The Dodge isnt perfect, but it is still a more substantial truck with a heavier duty overall build. The Cummins,Dana60/80,6speed,and 241Hd tcase are all beefy, cast iron and totally rebuildable, they are proven,I love how the Duramax performs, but beefy its not, time will tell if its proven.

That's pretty funny John D, but remember drugs are bad for you! Or is it that you have a crystal ball?

Real trucks do not rattle as loud as the Dodge. Wife works for a trucking co, they have several 2001 freight shakers with Detroits in them. Those 400HP detroits are quiter than the 99 Dodge they company has! Heck their 99 Kenworths are also quieter. But my duramax is the quietest.

I finally saw a dmax up close the other day. It sounded like a gasser with a rod knocking. As far as the truck itself,it was butt-@ss UGLY!! And durable? I doubt it. I guess GM saw a niche in the market for a tin can truck and a quiet diesel.....something that a city boy would buy.
Stolley-already new HD's are cracking beds, from back racks-there's a unk bed sitting on the ground behind the delaers lot with the proof.and the only D-max my local dealer has,is forest green,it has dent above the fuel tank filler from where the prep boy leaned his hand against it while filling it.Dont take my word for it,go to the dealer open the doors on a GM,press lightly on the sheet metal-it flexes just like a toyota's does, run your hand along the bed railand into the lip of the stake pockets-its paper thin, now go do the same on a Dodge,or gulp-even a Ford.I ran my fingers in the stake pockets of my K2500's stake pockets, they are much thicker than the HD's.The bed mounts to the frame, not exactly beafyfor a truck that can carry 2 tons+ in the bed on a 3500.
Real Trucks R A T T L E !!!
Believe it or not I could care less

need a "razzberry" smiley. Bwag, these guys are very one-sided, to say the least. Pro's and Con's can't be discussed intelligently here. Only Pro GM and Con everybody else (especially Dodge!) Personally, I think they're jealous.---here's a link to a post from a guy who is teachable: http://www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb//Forum20/HTML/000193.html ---heeeheee!

Yeah, I do think we are very One-Sided (At least I am) in that we love our GM Diesel Trucks and can't discuss the pros and cons of other vehicles..
That is a great observation, I agree 100%.. The Dodge site is nothing like that http://www.62-65-dieselpage.com/ubb/biggrin.gif...
You all need to keep patting yourself on the back for being able to discuss all brands without any fear of the GM guys Bashing, trashing your site, or posts about how members should have bought a GM diesel, or bashing your Dodge, Chrysler, Cummins, and transmissions, at every turn.....

Better to be "brainwashed" with intelligence and buy the new GM diesel then tricked into thinking that your Dodge ever stood a chance...LOL!

If'n ya wanna hear QUIET, read the thread up above on how QUIET the Duramaxes were at the truck pull.... MOSTLY because the Duramax owners were smart enough to stay safely at HOME!
The Ford diesel owners weren't as smart, and are still licking their wounds... http://www.62-65-dieselpage.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.62-65-dieselpage.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.62-65-dieselpage.com/ubb/tongue.gif
Guess the Duramax owners prefer the "action" in the relative safety of city streets and parking lots? OR their home garages... HEH HEH HEH...
HMMMmm lessee - HOW many cu in in a Ford PS... OH, YEAH *440*... how many in that puny Cummins 6-banger? OH YEAH, *360*... You V8 diesel guys outta be ASHAMED, pickin' on the poor 'ol Cummins... OH, WAIT, you LOST!
