Hope to finally install stud girdle this weekend, have been waiting on all the parts to arrive. I received some great help from TDP on how to get the oil pan out (has helped too easy my nerves). Have been reading the install instruction for the stud girdle and they say to check clearance once installed to make sure no parts rub (they give a specific gap, which I don’t remember now). So I would like to turn the crankshaft to check for clearance, I have to take the starter motor out for the install so I can’t use it. I have looked at the flywheel attached to the crankshaft and it has a series of bolts so I don’t think a wrench would work there. Is there a place to get a wench on to turn the crankshaft?

Thanks for the help. Brent

Turn the balancer by hand or with a ratchet

Pulling as many glowplugs as you can reach will release compression and make it TONS easier to turn over by hand.
