Any info on the new Detroit Diesel automotive engines?

My dad just managed to get his hands on a 3.8L Detroit diesel. It is an automotive engine that they have tested in UPS trucks in Florida. He is planning on putting it in a Ford van.
Does anybody know anything about these engines or know somebody that does?
They mention them on Detroitdiesel.com but do not say very much about them.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Is it an inline six? Rumor had it a couple of years ag0 that dodge was gonna put them in SUV's like durangoes, but emissions laws have been tightened on diesels, so DD is having to... clean up their act so to speak smile.gif I wouldn't mind getting one for my truck.

Yes it is an inline 6. It makes 160 hp, so it should be a nice conversion if he can figure out the electrically controlled bosch injection pump.

OK, so we live within a couple of miles of each other, so where is your Jeep? I have probably seen it around. I'm sure that you have seen my 93, it's black and looks like a POS with a diesel fumes make me horny bubble in the Pass. side back window!
