View Full Version : OEM Radio Lite
Minor question really as the radio/CD player is fully functional, but the led at the 2 O'clock position from the combo vol & on/off switch never lites. Don't know that it ever did either. Only elect work done has been the hi idle, odlo, dual altn installation and wiring in the IP 4WD indicator.
I'm wondering if it is suppose to work ~ ~ ?

I think that's the light that blinks if you've set a security code in the radio and lock the truck with the remote.

yup it is......it's in the owners manual....wasn't sure myself either...until I looked.....dmaxster
Duh, ahem, guess I should do some reading redface.gif I read the portion of the manual re description of operation but nothing of security. I do know there is something about security as there is the barcode sticker on the face of the radio ~ I just thot that the dealer had taken care of that already.

it's on page 3-22 and 3-23 in the owners manual.....dmaxster
Yes ~ was able to reset the code. Apparently when disconnecting the batteries, it deactivated it. BUT, walking passed it in the garage tonite, I noticed that it was flashing.. It flashes all the time whether locked or not. Is that normal? Think it could be a drain on the system if I wasn't driving it everyday ~

Let's see. 2 big batteries, 1 little LED. I don't think you need to worry about it draining the battery unless you let it sit for 6 months and even then there are other things that will drain the battery first.
Here's the real solution though, drive the truck more often. smile.gif

For clarification, the question is: Is it normal for the lite to be flashing when parked and unlocked?
The manual isn't clear on that ~

My S10 and my 3500 have the same radio. The S10 blinks, code is set in the radio. The 3500 doesn't blink, no code set.
Thanks FirstDiesel ~ What w/many posts on this board where people are replacing their radios w/aftermarket, I can't help but wonder if there exists real threats of someone stealing it. I'm happy w/mine and wouldn't want to change as I'm near deaf ~ but hard to believe someone would want to steal it. Go figure
