View Full Version : TV/DVD for Truck and Trailer
I'm looking for good options for a TV and DVD. It would be used in the truck while driving and then in the trailer at destinations.
I have the front split bench so it is possible to set something on the center console. I've seen options such as head rest back but that wouldn't transfer to the trailer very well.
I may prefer to go with a CRT as flat screens are exhorbantly expensive. I'd rather get something a little larger so it is usable for a few people at a time in the trailer.
Rockin,
I used a removable MITO CORP KWIK KLIP DVD BRACKET (http://www.mitocorp.com/panasonic_dvd_vehicle_specificat.htm) to attach a portable DVD player to the rear of the OEM console.
Remove the portable DVD player from the bracket and take it with you into the trailer, hotel, etc.

Additional pics of the Mito Corp bracket and DVD player HERE (http://community.webshots.com/album/59802499ATZLGB/0). The bracket seemed a little pricey @ $99, but it is a high quality piece and I've not seem anything like it elsewhere. The OEM console remains functional - you can open/close the console lid with the DVD bracket in place. The bracket is easily removed - the 'pocket' for the bracket attaches to the rear inside of the console, allowing the DVD bracket to be removed. Also, the DVD player can be removed separately from the console bracket - you leave the bracket attached to the console and a quick release mount allows the DVD player to be removed.
We bought a portable RCA unit. 7' screen. Has output and input RCA Jacks. Comes in Video or DVD. Works on AC or DC. Sits between kids on back seat. Best 300 bucks I ever spent.
Audiovox model ADV-12 has a 12 inch LCD screen with detachable speakers and comes with two wireless headphones. It plays DVD or CD and also has a tv tuner. The stereo sound with the speakers attached is execellent. It also has an internal speaker for in vehicle use but the headphones are first class. It can run on 12VDC or 110AC.It comes with carrying case and straps for vehicle mounting but a stand on the center console would be best considering the size of this unit.Sams Club has them in stock for $699.00.For your needs the price may be inline. There is more info on this at www.samsclub.com (http://www.samsclub.com)
I use my laptop for DVDs it works great.
Try Ebay. Their are plenty to choose from, under $400. Local dealer showed me one he bought on ebay with 4 extra screens for $400.00 He said it was the same option available from GM for $1200.00. These are new items on Ebay, not used.
I typed in DVD Player and then went to the auto parts section and several choices came up.
Good luck.
Ken
