Bowtie Question

I plan on having my Bowtie painted like am American flag similar to the one on my 1500.

The guy I am having do it is going to buy a new bowtie and paint it then ship to me.

He says he went to a dealer to order one and they told him there are different bowites depending on the trim package on the truck.

Is this correct?

Can anyone get me the proper part number for the bowtie for an '04 Duramax 2500HD w/ the LT package?

Don't know but is there any chance you can post full pics of the truck with the americam flag. I like the front bar. Would like to get a better look at it. Also that is awesome I would definitley display that on my truck :D

Mike330R, I really like your painted Bowtie on your 1500. I would think you could call your local Chevy dealer and talk w/a parts guy to get the correct part #.

I would like to have my 2003 2500HD Bowtie painted like that, could you find out what kind of paint he has found to work best for this. Does he put a clear coat on also..? How lond have you had it on your 1500..?

I think you can buy American flag bowties, like the one Mike's 1500. Back in '01 someone found them. Now to search....

I am not sure of the paint, but I know he puts a few coats of clear.

The GMC emblem painted with the flag on it would look nice! Like a flag laying across it.

Here are his answers:

JJ-dmax
I use ICI/Nexa bc-cc urethanes. They are now owned by PPG. Once all the colors have been applied I then go over it with 2 to 4 coats of a high solids urethane clear.

Yes a GMC badge can be painted too....
