I was looking through truckperformance.com looking for some billet grille inserts, I put them on before and it isnt all that hard, but looking through the mentioned above site was confusing. It seems like there are 2 different style inserts, 1)where you cut out the stock "honeycomb" part of the grille or 2) cover over that part with new inserts with no cutting. My question is which do you use, where did you order, and how did it install. I prefer a good nname brand Ive used Stull, but see alot of other brands like Precision? or Carriage works. TIA Bill

I Just installed the Stull billet insert in my GMC. I won't lie to you, it was a bitch to get the old grill cut out and still have it look somewhat descent. I have done I bet 10 billet insert installs and this is by far the hardest I have done. If you take your time and try to make a staight clean cut around the top and the bottom, it won't look that bad. I have had some body shop experinence and the task was somewhat tricky, frustrating and time consuming (1.5 to 2hr.) If you aren't into this whole installing scene I would just buy the insert that snaps onto the old grill. I have seen these, they look pretty good and from what I understand they are pretty easy to do. Goood Luck!

I've got the carriage works insert. Removing the stock honeycomb grill was time consuming, even with the dremel. I plan on having the remaining black plastic on the girll painted to match my truck as well as the black plastic parts on my front bumper.

I just installed a Lund Stainless screen front on my GMC. I didn't know they had one for the GMC HD but they do. Look great. I need to put up a picture.

Like renodmax I also installed a carriage billet grille. I bought it at www.stylinconcepts.com and I also found it difficult cutting out the old grille. The istructions that came with it were about the millionth copy and not very clear and basically had to use my own ingenuity to fasten it in place. It looks very nice now that it is done. The only reason I did'nt get the snap-in grillle was because I wanted to get rid of the big GMC on the grill, it completely covered the tranny cooler. With the snap-in the Transcooler is still covered.
I've also bought the Escalade door handles I think I'll find some body & fender guy to put them on unless someone on the forum can tell me all the pitfalls in advance. Stu
