before I break something!
It may seem dumb, but I wonder, do you just pull straight out on the plastic at the top?
I hate to tear up the wifes truck.
Getting ready to install Dakota Digital gauges in overhead console. FYI they no longer make the rectangle gauge for the boost, so i went with the round gauges.

It pops off, just pull evenly on the whole thing till one of the clips gives way, then you will be able to see how it is held on..

Grab it at the top and pull toward the steering wheel. There's only one metal clip at the top, the bottom is tucked in by the windshield.

Socal's method works best imho.
