jannal,
Hot Shots look great!
What year and length is your Okanagan?
two slides or three?
Kev
jannal,
Looks good!! I got tired waiting for those wheels to be released.
I've found the PDQ Brightener to be a very good product to keep the Alcoa wheels shining with the minimum effort. PDQ is for uncoated wheels, such as the Alcoas. If you can't find it locally, try this link (free S/H and 10% off):
www.alcoawheelaccessories.com/store/control/main
Too bad the Dura-Bright treatment is not an option on these wheels - looks like mainly 22.5" for now:

Another question.
Where did you get them???
Cheers

On Edit: what are they, about $300 Can per wheel

bearman,
www.southwestwheel.com is an Alcoa dealer. I was on 'the list' for the Hot Shots and they called me twice when they were finally available - 'the list' was at least 6 months old  and I was quite surprised that they remembered.
I bought my Prodigy from them and was pleased with their service. The current Hot Shot price is listed as $155 per wheel (front or rear), plus $160 for the complete accessory kit (32 lug nuts/lug nut covers, 4 center caps).
Bearman, I got them from Kal tire in Vancouver, I believe that they are 6

jannal,
My in-laws just purchased a '97 33/5 with triple slide. It actually measures 35'4". It's in pristine condition. He pulls it with his D-max and just returned from Palm Springs. Pretty heavy 5th. They are extremely well built. Load range G(14 ply) Generals under it. Nice unit!
I jumped on Alcoas site, they only list the Hot Shots at 6". Are you sure yours are 6 1/2".
Kev
CanadaKev,
Here is a portion of an email I received from Southwest Wheel in Jan '01:
"Alcoa Wheels -
The New and Improved 16x7 8-6.5 Classic Wheel.
Alcoa has reengineered their poplular Classic Wheel (167001) and has increased the load rating from 3450 lbs to 3750 lbs. They have also increased the psi from 80 to 110. This will make this wheel the most durable single wheel on the market. The new part number will be a 167041 and will be priced at $110.17 each.
The New redesigned Chevy 2001-2002 Alcoa HotShot Wheel
The new Chevy dual wheel has finished the design process and is getting tooled up for production. The wheel is still a month or two away, but will be worth the wait. The wheel has a larger center hole than the earlier models. Also, they have widened the wheel from 16x6 to 16x6.5, but they have move the offset in so you will still have to run a LT21575R16 tire."
Also, I wrongly thought that the '01 and newer duallies had 6.0" wheels, but could not find documentation. Look at the tire inflation/load sticker on the driver's door frame - it lists 6.5" on my '01.
CanadaKev, I will check the size tomorrow, you may be right. Our Okanagan is 35
I got a bad feeling they are 6". I have seen the 6.5"in the States, but not up here.
Cheers

Southwest wheel says they are 6.5 and not to be confused with the Hotshot that was recalled last year that were 6. Had dealer call for availability and info.

Just spoke to Canadian Wheel in Edmonton. They want $1750 CDN for 4 wheels and the accessory kit. Have them in stock. Said that they have sold about 20 sets.
They also said that the wheels are clear coated (like the PY0?) and did not require extensive maintenance unless the clear coat was damaged.
Anyone else found other Alberta suppliers ? Prices ?
Cheers, Todd

I queried Alcoa here in Vancouver about the cleaning kit required for the Hot Shot wheel, the following is part of the response.

Thanks Jannal. I called Kal Tire in Edmonton and they wanted $1950 with installation and tax. They must have called Canadian Wheel locally.
Which Kal Tire did you deal with ?
Thanks, Todd
Diesel Dad, the full retail price from Alcoa is $1,700.00 if you buy them from Alcoa in the Vancouver area. I do not know what the dealer price is, I suspect that it is much less than what you and I would pay. Reading mdrags posting re the U.S. price, convert the U.S. price and that equals $1,419.00 CDN at today exchange rate. I guess that I got a deal. The wheels were purchased at Kal Tire in Langley at 20140
I Contacted Canadian wheel directly, they quoted me $275 per wheel & $275 for accessories. I then phoned Cal Tire in the Medicine Hat and got them to get me a price. they got a quote of $450 per wheel and $450 accessories (their price). I told them what Canadian wheel quoted me. 1 hr later Canadian Wheel called me and said they could no longer give me that price because I was raising sh!t with their custumers. I phoned Cal Tire back and told them about this conversation, they appologised and said they will get those rims for me @ $275 apice. Sounds like Canadian Wheel is just trying to rape most of us in Canada. I will never buy any thing from them. Cal Tire has found a different supplier that sells alot cheaper.

Now I'm getting mad. I called Kal Tire in Medicine Hat and they disavowed all knowledge of the $275 price. Said that they sell at "the same price as everyone else".
I also tried Kal Tire in Leduc and they quoted $1750 + tax + installation based on (guess what) Canadian Wheel.
Really looks like a scam on behalf of Canadian Wheel. If anyone finds a dealer that will sell at $275/wheel, let me know.
Diesel Dad
I almost think we would do better out of the States. When and if I get my rims for $275 I will try and let you know what the scoop is. I plan on putting the word out as much as possible about Canadian Wheel scams.

According to the Alcoa web site, the other Alberta distributor is UAP (parent of Napa). I will try and get a price through Napa on Monday and post the results.
I may also give Fort Garry Industries another try. They were not too keen on dealing with anything less that 19.5".

Mdrag,
You said that there was a high load rated wheel coming out?
Southwest spec's show
163251 and 163252 Wheel Specifications as 2780# and 95psi inflation. Are your spec's for single wheels?
Thanks...
Technician,
Check the appropriate link in my sig - I think it will clear up your questions :D
I just got back from Washington and checked my receipt for the Aloa

Mdrag,
Thanks smile.gif I'm good now !
Nice rig  I'm jealous.....
How do those beauties ride ?
technician,
Unloaded the ride with the 19.5" wheels and tires is worse on some surfaces and better on others than the OEMs - about even overall. When loaded, the ride is better than the OEMs.
I installed Centramatic balancers www.centramatic.com front and rear from the start. Tire pressure is important, and I've found that 75 psi front/ 70 psi rear works well (max 95 psi LRF). Front/rear Bilsteins also help to smooth things out. The Michelin XDE do generate a fair amount of tire whine though.
