Thanks to Colorado Kid, I now have the power and heated mirrors on my truck. Someone said open a beer and install the mirrors and finish the beer, It didn't even get hot while I installed the mirrors and the new dash control. :D Thanks to everyone for the great instructions on how to replace the mirrors and dash control. smile.gif

Is there an electric mirror available to replace stock non-electric mirrors?

Tom--Check and see if your truck is already wired for the power mirrors. The people on here have said that the 01's are wired for the power mirrows. If it is then it would be a piece of cake. If you will do a search on the site under "Shark Fin" you will get alot of good information on how to remove the piece of plastic to get to the back of the mirrors.

ram/tx, what did it cost ya to change to the heated mirrors. When I ordered my truck, I thought I told the dealer to add it in, but when I got it, no heated mirrors. I didn't get charged for them so not that big a deal. I guess from your post they were pretty easy to install aswell. Thanks.

LA DMAX---I got the power and heated mirrors from Colorado Kid a member on the site, he had changed to an after market power and heated mirror, and sold me his OEM mirrors at a good price. Then I bought the dash control from gmdirect.com and it was $75 dollars shipped to my door. You might ask the question here about anybody having the OEM mirrors they have changed out and want to sell them, like I did. The dealer will rob you if you go back and buy the mirrors and dash control from them. The mirrors and dash control is a snap to change out, took all of about 20 minutes. Hope this helps.

Yes, the trucks (at least the GMC SLT and the Silverado LT trims) are pre-wired for heated mirrors.
I ordered mine with heated mirrors, but because I deleted the RWD (rear window defroster), I ended up with neither. The two are operated by the same switch. I had the dealer order the mirrors (and the appropriate heater/AC head unit with the RWD button), and install them on my truck. When they opened up the doors, the wiring was already there. Simple swap!

ram/tx, thanks for the info. I'm in the process of talking with the dealer again to see if it was their fault or not for deleting the heated mirrors. It's good to know that the swap is relatively inexpensive. Thanks again for the info.

ram/tx,

Do you have the part number on the dash control to control the heated aspect of the mirrors?

Thanks!!

3-Fan---The part number for the HVAC Control head for the heated mirrors is 15054698. I got it from gmpartsdiredt.com. It was $64.00 plus shiping and handleing. The Stealer wanted $125.00 plus tax. Hope this helps.
