OK Here is the deal. I do NOT have the switches in my steering wheel.

I plan on replacing the radio so I didn't want switches that didn't work on the SW.

What I neglected to find out was that none of the oil monitoring features and what not would work without the switches.

So my question is this. Can we buy just the switches? I was thinking I could hook them up and mount them on a plate. I wouldn't need the volume and tuner switches just the ones for the oil monitor.

Did that make sense?

I'd check with Jason @ jpcustoms.com. I know he sells complete controls for 99-02. He might know.

Lonewolf, please post what you find out. I am in the same boat as I thought the steering wheel buttons only controlled the radio, so I didnt choose that option. Now I wish I had some of the features of the DIC, but dont.

Not that it helps your delima but Crutchfield carries a harness that will let your steering wheel radio controls work with an after-market sterio.

OK This is my latest understanding.
The DIC is not present in the truck. The oil life monitoring system can still be accessed with the Steering wheel switches.

So I am trying to find out if the effort will be worth it just to get the Oil monitoring system.

What would be the odds of getting the DIC installed?...hmmmmmm

Lonewolf, thanks for that info. It answers my question. Im not going to put in those steering wheel buttons for oil life. I can already do that function with the gas pedal to reset it. And Ive never been long enough on oil to have the oil life monitor come on. Im also wondering what it takes to get the DIC installed now. Just doesnt seem worth all the hassle with the steering wheel to do just one DIC function.
