Can the On-Star cell phone be upgraded?

In my 2004.5, it looks like I got the last analog cell phone. Does anyone know what's involved in replacing the cellular unit from analog to digital? Is this even possible?

Leave it up to Onstar. They will likely have an upgrade campaign. If they don't, they'll bankrupt.

I have a 2001 Suburban with Onstar. The kids locked the keys in the truck. We were an 1/8 mile from 635 and less than a mile from 35e in Carrollton/Dalls, TX and with the analog system they could not find my truck. Made me wonder what I was paying for all of this time.

On star took me 20 miles out of my way in CA. and I was talking to them the whole time. After the third operator I was finally dirrected to the camp grounds!!!!

In my 2004.5 Silverado 3500, I got Gen 6 (digital) OnStar equipment. In my 2005 Cadillac SRX I got the old analog equipment. In a phone call yesterday, GM told me an upfit for analog to digital OnStar should be available in April 2005. --wheeler
