View Full Version : Wiring question
I installed a pair of Hadley air horns behind the grill of my 03 dually and ran into a problem when wiring them. Instructions said to splice a wire from the solenoid on the horn to the hot wire going to the oem horns. Found the horn, and it has 1 green wire and 1 black. Tried both, but neither would not activate the solenoid. Thought maybe the black was ground, so I used a continuity meter on both wires checking to ground and BOTH had continuity to ground. Why would that be? I want to be able to activate the air horns with my stock horns, not a separate horn button. Any ideas ?
It is a strange electrcal system.
What I believe you will find is when you hit the horn, one of the wires goes hot. That's the one you want for your control.
Hoot, apparently you're right. I may have had a bad connection when I first tried it. The setup comes with a blue 3M connector and both wires are really small diameter. Works now, thanks.

Which wire was the correct one? The green or the black? Who did you purchase the horns from? Lowest I've found so far is 299 plus shipping.
The green wire was correct. The horns are Hadley "Bully", from Camping World. They are black for under hood use, and I think they sold for 219.00. I'm a Presidents Club member, so I got 10% off, plus they sent me an additional 10% off coupon so I paid around 180.00 plus shipping. Mounted the horns behind the grill (D side), and the compressor mounted where the second alternator would mount(made bracket). The air tank is mounted next to the d side hood hinge. Really nice product and are they ever loud--much louder than I thought they would be.
