Was wondering if anyone uses the grill cover that comes as an accessory for the truck? I'll mainly be in the southern states this winter. When should one consider using it. Thanks - Murf

Murf,
Depending on how cold it gets you may not need it where you are. I used mine when the temps were in the 30's and colder here in upstate NY. (Last winter it was on most of the winter). I tried running with out the cover and found my mileage dropped. With the cover the engine maintains proper operating temp (195-200). I also didn’t use the bumper cover, just the grill cover.

I use both when below 25, helps the engine get to oper. temp much quicker (takes forever when it gets down to near 0), and gets the heater working sooner also.

I run my grill cover all winter, didnt use the bumper cover as it interfered with plow mounts, made a difference for sure...I wouldnt use it in temps over 45... if temps will stay below that all the time, daytime included, run it..

Your duramax supplement manual gives you the guidelines on when to use it and when not to use it. Of course, I've seen a few idiots running around in 100 degree weather with a big camper on (and pulling big boats/trailers) with the winter front on.
