I'm looking for some wheel to wheel step bars for my up-and-coming 2003 GMC 2500HD CC LB.

Seems that Waag & GoRhino get pretty good feedback.

I imagine that the Waag listing for the 2001 6080B step bars will work on my 2003 (they mostly just changed the grill, right?

Does anyone have any opinions? Seems that the prices fluctuate quite a bit, by about $150 on all brands.

I'm also very interested in seeing pictures of step bars on a Long Box Crew Cab.

Thanks!

Maxrock - just found your site - do you know if your bars will fit my 2003 (might be a dumb question), and what is the model of yours (6080B)?

p.s. - great looking truck! Love that Crew Cab Long Box - 21.4' long!

conradv,

Thanks for the compliment. It does make for a long truck, but no problems parking or maneuvering in town...yet!

I installed the 6080PS (polished stainless) on my truck. I would imagine, but don't quote me, that the 2003 and 2002 would be the same. I do like the extra step for reaching into the bed of the truck.

The one thing that I was disappointed in was the way the rear end of the step was terminated. In the picture on Go-Rhino's web site (http://www.gorhino.com/), the bar makes a slight turn to the truck...on mine, the bar is straight, no turn. At first I didn't like it, but it doesn't bother me any longer.

I'd call Go Rhino for yours specific application. Their number is 888-4 A RHINO (888-427-4466)

conradv,
I was looking for somthing a litle different so I went with putco boss bars. There 4" insted of 3"like all the rest of them.
As far as wheel to wheel goes that would have just gave somebody a reason to go over the side and scratch my truck instead threw the tailgate were I've installed a tailgat step just for that.
Check out the Boss Bar at www.putco.com
Good Luck.

I just put on Westin WTW CPS bars (chrome over stainless)on my 03 GMC. Had good luck with the CPS bars on my other truck and like the WTW look even though I don't plan to use them to reach into the box. I did think the rear bracket looked "small" but they seem to be sturdy and I go about 275.

Are all of the wheel-to-wheel nerf bars bolted up to the frame, or are some bolted to the cab? I'd really like frame mounted bars.

Conrad

p.s. - a little birdy told me that my truck is about 250 miles from home and getting closer.............

Check out ICI. I don't have the web site, sorry. Kennedy has the running boards and I have the wheel to wheel SS bars. They are "body" mounted, however they have "4" mounting brackets. Always look for bars or steps that have a heavy guage.

The Westin and Go Rhino bars bolt to the body mounts while the WAAG uses a "compression" bracket that sandwiches the frame rails for the front and the middle brackets while the rear bolts onto the front bolt of the rear leaf spring eyelet.
I personally have chosen the Westins due their lifetime warranty on the CPS line. These can come in black or chrome. Price difference between Go Rhino and Westin...Go Rhino is cheaper by about $50 for most applications
