I have a tremendous roaring noise at speeds 55mph and up, after installing a Westin brush guard, on my '02 Chev HD2500 CC. The roar increases with speed and is overpowering even with the radio at a fairly high volume. No particular difference is noted when the bug deflector is removed. I'm having it removed and would appreciate any comments on guards you may have installed on your truck. I really want to install one, without the noise. I've checked with other truck owners of 4-Runners, Dodge, HD Fords,'03 Chev HD, and Tahoes with different brands of guards, and no one has had this problem.

Is it the flapping noise like what people are describing with the bug deflectors?

I was thinking of making a brushgaurd that mounted to my plow mounts this summer but might rethink it since I get the flap with the plow on :(

It's a roar from the top bar of the guard over the hood. It remained about the same after a trial with the bug deflector off. Before taking the deflector off, we bolstered the deflector against the hood with foam pipe insulation to see if it could be vibration, but there was no diffence.

GD,

I have used Manik brush guards for years. I just had one mounted on my new '04 3500. Never have had any noise issues.

Good luck in your quest.
