Anyone have experience with these? Apparently they are the same manufacturer of the OEM towing mirrors. I've read all about mirror options, including the TTT mirrors, etc. but can get a good deal? (~ $200) for a set of the PowerVision's (power, heated, etc.). I thought for $200 I might try them. Thoughts?

In 2000 I got a pair for my 1996 suburban before pulling my TT to Alaska and loved them. They did not have turn signlas and were not heated either and were about $400 plus local installation. I got them as a factory option for my 2003 and except for some extension and retraction problems due to a bad batch of motors (see my posts elswhere re this subject), I think they are great. Powervision makes them for many models of trucks so they are available but $200 will not get you a pair. Sorry!

Apparently my "source" has a GM connection as the mirrors I bought this morning are the OEM power towing mirrors, heated, signal, etc. new from GM direct. We'll see in a few days when they arrive.

As far as I can tell they should be plug/play since I have the power heated, folding, tilt, indicator mirrors now but will have to get the truck flashed with the 'DPF' code which is the GM code for the towing mirrors so they will extend vice fold. I mistakenly thought 'DPF' stood for 'dual power folding' which it does not, all according to a Power Vision source.

Just curious what the dealer will say when I ask them to flash the truck with the code since the truck didn't have the tow mirrors from the factory. smile.gif

I was at the dealer yesterday getting new tires installed and they brought in a 03' EC dually with the extending mirrors. Wouldn't entend on the pass side. Had it all torn apart trying to find the problem.

I can't understand that so many people like the factory towing mirrors, because the passenger-side mirror, with its flat glass, is USELESS as a rear-view mirror. The only good it does for me is to hold a stick-on convex mirror. Trouble is I haven't been able to find a stick-on that matches the size of the OEM mirror very well.

To each his own! I like the fact that the passenger side moror is "distorion free" and it is especially useful when backing my TT into a tight spot as it "shows it like it is." I also use, and am pleased with, a mirror that easily attaches to the top of my factory mirrors ( http://www.safedriving.com/aux.html } OR ( see bottom of order page for illustration http://www.powervisionmirrors.com/models_specs.htm). I also use a stick on mirror on the inside lower corner of both windows which gives me a view of my "close in blind spot" such as location of dual wheels with respect to a nearby object. It is a Custom Accessories Item 71118 and I got mine from Pep Boys. I had the same mirrors added to my 96 Suburban so I am a satisfied return customer.

The primary reason I'm going with OEM over TTT is the price difference. I was able to get a set of 03 OEM camper/towing mirrors for $225 shipped, brand new. I figured I'd try the OEM first vice spending twice as much ($450?) on TTT mirrors.

I beleive the problem with the OEM PS mirror is a result of a 5/16" nut on the motor/clutch assembly not being tighted to spec when assembled. PowerVision has documented the problem but don't think there is a TSB issued yet.

I should be able to mount them, get the computer flashed and be done, no running wires, etc. If I don't like'em, I'm sure I can get my $200 out of them on EBay, etc.
