I started installing a BD exhaust brake and am getting ready to install a guage to monitor the back pressure. There is a brass plug on the side of the valve body, since the instructions arn't real clear I take it the plug comes out and replaced with the fitting for the guage. Just don't want to make a costly mistake.

Yes, you have the right plug for the gauge. I pull this plug every few months and hook a gauge to it to check back pressure.

Dick,
The plug should be directly on the bottom. I don't know what kind of guage your going to install, (I have the X-Monitor) you will need to come out with metal so far or you will melt the plastic line if that is what you are using. You might use copper line all of the way.
Initial setting should be around 18# and max should be 55#. The way I set the minimum is to turn the brake on at an idle and adjust the stop if necessary. The maximum is set from the adjustment on the compressor.
If I ever have enough time, I am going to mount an airtank along side the frame with a quick disconnect coupler so I can air tires or whatever.
