I'm looking for a box to mount on the tongue of my trailer. What I really want is an aluminum diamondplate box powdercoated black, I don't want or need the style that fits over bed rails, butrather just a plain rectangualr box or ideally a trapezoid-shaped box specially designed to be mounted on a trailer tongue. I'm finding some in black, but either too small or waay too expensive, and I've about exhausted the internet! I also have had no luck locating a powdercoater anywhere near central Illinois who could redo a bright aluminum box in a beautiful black powdercoat.
Any ideas?

Not to jump on your bandwagon, but I am looking for the same thing, in a mudflap. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Something like this....

They have black powder coat.

Also found quite a few more.
Here's another one

Hint: Go to Google.com and search for "trailer tongue box" to see a lot more of them.

I bought so stuff off of www.awdirect.com (http://www.awdirect.com) and they were pretty cheap and good to work with on my light bar. They show some boxes but in shinny Al.

I am going to have a body shop in Peoria that I am pretty familiar with shoot a steel box black with paint. Not as tough as powder coating but I think it will hold up fine. Might be a bit cheaper.

There are 2 powdercoaters in Schofield, WI. One is Chem Chrome and the other is Color Coating Plus (I think). Chem Chrome does all the powerdercoating for Blizzard snowplows. Do a yellow pages search on the internet and you should come up with a number.

Color Coating Plus painted my brush guard gloss black on my 93' Chevy. Cost like $20 bucks.

Why not Line-X the box? I think you will find it is more reasonable than you think. I had my mud flap bar covered with Line-X. It looked sharp and was reasonable.

dmaxstu,
Yes the forum took Maverick from me :(
I re-registered "MAV (formerly Maverick)".
I figured it was to long. Everyone pretty much calls me MAV anyway so now its MAV. It should have about 2,000 posts and member since April 2001. Back to zero.

Thanx for the info and ideas! Here's the best one I had come up with, but although it looks dark in the pic it's actually available only in bright aluminum. I did find a powdercoater here locally and am looking into the cost of blasting and coating locally. I really like the Line-X idea. I don't know why that hadn't occurred to me, since I absolutely love it in the bed of my truck.I might even be able to talk them into letting me do the prep on it to save a bit.
Thanx, everyone!
