I want to know if the chimes that remind you to pull ignition key and that the lights were left on can be disconnected or the volume turned down? I have the Bose sound system and it sounds as if the tones come from the left door speaker and they are to loud

There is a very slight chance that your chimes are set on the louder of the two available settings. They do use the stereo speakers and are apparently impossible to disable.

On my father-in-laws 2500HD we thought they were too loud and were pleased to discover there was a way (which I don't recall right now) to change the volume, well when we changed it they went from too loud to WWWWAAAAAYYYYYY TTOOOOOO LLLLLOOOOOUUUUUDDDDD!!!!!!!  So we put 'em back they way they had been.

My pa-in-law doesn't listen to much music (he bough tthe truck off the lot, and wouldn't have ordered the Bose) so we're actually considering pulling the speaker wires from the driver's door speaker to tone down the blasted chimes.

Is anyone at GM listnening? or have they all gone deaf from exposure to these trucks?

I put in a complaint with my service manual. Granted I was chuckling while doing it - if that's the worst that I have to complain about (besides no underhood light) in 24,000 miles, well....

Maybe if ALL of us '03 owners complain to our Dealers all at once, they'll hear...

Ok, then I'll add my complaint to the list!

I too thought that maybe my chimes were at the "loud" level, but they were actually at the "normal" setting. Wow. I couldn't close the doors fast enough when it was set to loud. It was quickly set back to "normal?".

The first time my buddy saw my truck I said "check this out" and opened the door so the chimes would start. He gave me this look like he just saw someone murdered and said that was very annoying......and he was standing six feet from the truck!
