I'm trying to install an Antenna Specialist "On-Glass" XM antenna (model 8000). The problem is that the defogger wires on the rear glass go all the way to the top, so I'm unable to locate the template in a way that prevents the wires from going through the forbidden area.

Anyone else using a thru glass coupler style XM antenna? Do I have to cut and peel off the upper wire?

I used the Terk through glass antenna mounted on the back window driver's side upper corner. The technician at Circuit city had no issues with the defogger. Signal strength has been very good to excellent and only very occasional drop outs when under trees, etc. (same as my Garmin GPS).

Eric.

Thanks Eric. Sounds like its allowable to have one wire run through one of the two forbidden areas then as that is the only way it is possible to mount the antenna. Then again, perhaps the forbidden areas on the Terk are different that the Antenna Specialist antenna.

I suppose another option would be to go with a wired antenna and route it through the 3rd brake light.
