Ok I'm confused. I have the standard two battery
config on my D-Max. Hooked up my brake controller
the other day and works great. The instructions on
the wiring harness say the mega fuse is not required if you have the aux battery. Then I read a thread (don't recall the one) that said you do
in fact have to install this mega fuse to power
the bat charger on the trailer. Going on a July 4
trip and would love some expert advice before we
leave. Happy 4th......

Don't you think a standard solenoid type feed to the trailer 12v would do the trick?

On with the key on - off with the key off.

If you put the fuze in, the worst that could happen is that it charges your trailer battery. Install it, you need it.

On edit: I'm not an expert, just an owner of a TT that gets charged while being towed.

on my pops work trailer, we have a pair of deep cycle 6v gel batteries [similar to golfcart batteries in a series connection = 12v] that run the eavestrough maching. we have a constent power supply to the trailer, but not constent charging. we put a relay in so when the parking lights are fired up, the batteries get a charge. one good thing with that. the way we have the fuse panel setup, if the truck gets a dead battery, we can boost the truck from the trailer by swapping one jumper wire

Thanks for the replies. I think I have the two
bats in the D-Max which are both used for cranking
amps confused with the aux bat option on a gasser.
The owners manual talks about a battery feed
fuse that comes with the jumper wiring harness
Then it goes on to talk about the aux bat that
powers add on stuff like a slide in camper etc....
I'm assuming these are two different systems.
The owners manual is such a joke. I guess the idea
is to leave you in the dark so you'll have to pay a dealership to do it. NOT....

You hit the nail on the head! Did you put the fuse in yet? enjoy the 4th weekend with a nicely charged batt.
