Gauge pod

I have a 2003 Chev Silverado. Where are you folks getting your gauge pods? Auto meter doesn't list for the new trucks.

Yesterday while surfing for parts I saw that someone had a single gauge autoworks column mount pod for the Silverado. If your talking about the A pillar pod, I got mine from Kennedy. I just had to enlarge the hole for the SPA guage a little and then I painted it to match the interior color.
Looks good now :cool:

I installed the Autometer guages (boost and EGT) and 2 guage pod today. It is a relatively easy job. Finding the light connections and EGT guage power connection and routing was the most difficult part. Got the boost guage connected and the EGT probe will be done tomorrow. Ran out of time today.

I used a plastic Y fitting for the boost guage with a soft adapter for the 1/4 to 1/8 connection. Couldn't find the brass parts needed to do it. The Y fitting give a perfect angle to firewall where the insulation has the hole. Will let you know how the EGT probe part of the install goes.

Got the probe part done today. I was a little apprehensive about this part but everything went well.

Question: What have you all been doing about the replacement of the fender well shield retainer? I have looked at every auto parts store in town for replacements but could not find any. It appears it is back to the dealer to get them.

Someone installed riv nuts with screws. I would like to do this also since it would make it easier in future for fuel filter access. Does anyone have a source for the riv nuts and the tool for installing them?

Also, who on the internet has the best price for trans filters and cabin air filters. The GM sources online are to expensive, especially after shipping is added. Thanks.

TBC, I too installed Autometer gauges this weekend. I used the opportunity to install the Rivnuts and found a RivNut tool kit at the local HarborFreight store. If there's not one local to you or you can't find local, you can order via their web site. The part number is 1210-1VGA. I used the 1/4" nuts that came with the kit ... just had to enlarge the holes a little... but was very easy to do. I went to local hardware store and bought some stainless steel screws.

For the Allison spin on filters, go to www.allisontransmission.com and do a search for a distributor in your area. The distributor near me had WAY better pricing than either the Allison dealers or GM in my area. The filters should be 7-10 dollars each if I remember correctly. The factory AC cabin filters can be found at www.partszoneonline.com for 16.39 or ac-direct.com for about 19-20 dollars.

On the '03's with the Bose Radio there are small tweeters in the A pillers. The guage pod will need to have a hole in it for the speaker to stick out.

This is what I have been waiting for, so I can now get the piller mount for my '03 with Bose/XM Radio :cool:
