There are actually going backwards with fuses. These fuses have been around for atleast 18 years. My 85 toyota truck uses these from factory. I wish GM would stay with maxi fuses.

Thanks for bringing up this fuse topic.
I also noticed these "new" (JCASE) fuses when installing my bleeder pump. I personally had never seen them before and then realized that I had no spares. There is also another "different" looking small fuse in the under-hood fuse box. Anyone familiar with these? I need to add some of both types to my fuse stash. smile.gif

The small one's under the hood should be MINI style fuses, just the opposite of MAXI fuses. Both types are derived from the ATO fuse which is/was the standard once they got rid of glass. Personnally I like all the blade types, mini, maxi, and ato. I never used these JCASE types and never had to replace any. I saw them at pep boys but don't know much about them, like what is their advantage?

Autozone also carries these fuses.

Thanks for the replies on this, I had no idea that NAPA and Autozone carried spares. My local auto parts store gave me the deer in the headlights look when I mentioned JCASE, and I assumed it was a dealer only item.

I spoke with Littelfuse yesterday, and there are no plans for JCASE circuit breakers.

I stopped by Autozone tonight...no JCASE fuses. They did have PAL fuses, which have been used on Foreign cars for years. They are similar to JCASE, and use the same colors, but they are larger than JCASE. Same issue at NAPA so far...they have PAL, but no JCASE. Sure hope I don't blow one of these JCASE fuses on the road somewhere. :(

Whatever I purchased at NAPA worked, I will try and find the part number when I get home tonight.

I picked up a package of assorted MINI fuses today at Wal-Mart for under $2.00 but I also couldn't find the JCASE at Autozone. Have to keep looking... :(

When I took delivery of my 2003 I noticed in the glove box a relay style 4 bladed device. Anyone know what it could be or be for? It is gray in color with a red spot on it.

SS396 is correct that NAPA stocks JCASE fuses. NAPA part number is 782-2121 for the 30A fuse. They also stock a 20A fuse. I was suprised when the NAPA guy found one. I had just purchased one earlier this afternoon at a local dealer. Now I have 2 spares.

Inspector...not sure what the relay is in your glove box. My '03 did not have anything similar to what you described.

Glad you were able to find one, the fuse I bought was for 12 volt power to the trailer harness, which is a 40 amp part# 782-2044.

This is the fuse GM leaves out when you purchase the trailer harness option.

I will need to pick up some 30 amp fuses for spares as well.
