View Full Version : ABS LIght On, Where is the Brake controllere fuse
ABS light came on and I checked the fuses they look ok, no cruise control and seems to be that my brake controller stopped working. Checked fuse on cruise and it was ok, where is the fuse for the brake controller on an 01 2500. Nothing in the box under the hood says anything about trailer brakes. Is there one fuse that powers all?
Thanks

Most of the electrical fuses are in the engine compartment. Check there and you should find them.
I have the same question on the brake controller fuse. I'd like to replace mine (the fuse that controlls the brake wire at the rear harness) with a circuit breaker. I looked at the fuse box under the hood, but found nothing labled brakes. The older CK trucks had a maxi-fuse for this under the hood. Where'd they put the fuse on the HD's?
Well...I answered my own question. The brake controller fuse is labled 'Stud 2'. Now the question will be where I find a circuit breaker to replace this fuse. My understanding is that brake controllers should be fused with a circuit breaker to prevent a total loss of trailer brakes.
If thats the case ~ I would look for one of the automatic reset types instead of the regular kind and hope that there is sufficient time to reset itself when a critical situation presents itself.

BigO,
I don't think that the fuse in stud one or two affect either the ABS or cruise control.
If your ABS light is lit, there is probably a problem with the ABS system. Since the brake system has a problem, it won't let the cruise control be activated. Just my guess. You should find out what error code turned on the light.
Traveling this week and was not able to get on site a couple of times.
Thanks for all of your replys.
roegs: When you say stud two, are you referring to under the hood, second maxi fuse from the left. How did you determine that?
Comet: That makes sense on the cruise. I will post what the dealer says when I ask them. I am just trying to check the basics before it goes in.
Thanks again!
