I have been pondering on the difficulty of installing Marker Lights (clearance lights) like installed on 1 ton trucks onto my OLD body style suburban (81-91 suburban 81-87 truck). I want to know what all is needed, whether it would be best to get aftermarket lights or if factory lights were available for those trucks at that time. Also what all drilling is involved in these trucks? Is there any room for this install being that the metal in the cab top is two sheets thick I am told. I think that this would be a good look for a lifted suburban. Thanks for the info..

I had a set of clearance lights installed on my truck recently. I watched the guys install them and the process is relatively easy. The lights are aftermarkets made by Hi-Five (I think) and are good quality. Each light comes complete and uses a hot wire and a ground wire. They are powered by splicing into the factory wiring so that they operate with the parking lights like stock. There are 3 holes per light; 1 for the hot wire and 2 pilot holes for the screws. The whole install took about 3 hours. So far I've had them about 4 months with about 15,000 miles and no leaks yet.
