I installed my fiver hitch today. Need to have the front ell brackets welded to the frame. Do I need to disconnect any thing electrical before the weld?

^...Personally, I'd disconnect both batteries. You're grounding to a source. Just my preference. Hope to see some pics of your new installation.

Please see the Allison transmission web site for additional info on welding. I noticed in the online owners manual for the 1000 that the TCM should be unplugged before welding. I don't recall the specifics, but that warning suggests to me that certain PROMs might be damaged if not unplugged.

You are generally safe if you are using a welder that does not have high frequency start. That is what generally raises havock w/ electronics. A good wire feed w/o HF start will do the trick. To be safe, stick weld it w/ a lincold buzz box welder...
