I understand that Firestone or Air-ride both have excellent products so it gets down to which is easier to install, so let me hear it from all you installers so I can go out and buy the the most accomodating product for my 2002 GMC 2500HD LB. CC. Thanks Stu

I have found that the Firestone Ride-Rite is a little better setup after a few installations. They seem to be a little more heavy duty. Just my opinion though.

Installation is very straight forward, bolt them on to exhisting holes, except 1 small hole to drill on side of frame, easy to get to. About a 2-3 hr job with impact socket & stands.

Where is the best place on the internet to buy the Firestone Ride Rite air bags? My local 'Pick em up store' only seems to sell them with gold plated mounting hardware or maybe they're just priced that way. Stu

Thanks CHIPPER, have them ordered from Mac Spring it was between them or Truckspring.com I bought the dual air command compressor as well so it was worthwhile doing a little shopping. Stu

Dmaxstu,

I'm looking into the dual controller as well, where do you plan on placing the guages/control panel in the cab/dash? I can't decide the best location for this. Under dash there is no room and it doesn't fit in the console?

Also, I noticed on your signature you're running two Honda eu-2000i's in parallel for 4000 watts. Will these drive your A/C on your trailer? I have the Honda Eu-3000i with electric start, it's right on the edge for my 13,500 btu roof top A/C unit on my 5'er. I've been thinking about using the two eu-2000i's?

You know I have wondered where I'll put that dual controller, I'm pretty resourceful, so I figured I'll look at it when it gets here. Also there is the question of where to route the airlines into the cab which must be part of the whole install. When I figure it out I'll post it here.Or if there is someone out there who has allready figured it out please let us know.

About the Honda Eu2000i generators I was advised by the local dealer that they would run the whole trailer and that the Eu3000I was marginal. I have run the AC as well as the microwave without any problems. However the jury is still out because I haven't run the AC in Arizona in the summer. I figured that I could give up the microwave in such an event. The nice part for me is that I can use a single one in the boat.A single Eu2000i runs my electric cabin heater real nice and keeps the batteries charged very quietly, just for battery charging through the AC onboard charger it only needs to run on EcoThrottle. In general I'm very happy with the whole arangement it only ever takes one pull each to start them. The good news is they weigh only 46 lbs each the bad news is you have to chain them up where ever you use them otherwise they'll walk away. Stu

DMAXSTU,

Let me know were you end up installing the in cab air controller? I think it will fit right next to my prodigy brake controller just under the dash on the right side. Thanks for the input on the Honda Eu-2000i's. My EU-3000i is really quiet 49 DB with eco on that's why I bought it. How quiet is the Eu-2000i?

Dmaxstu,

Under the driver's side floor mat is a rubber grommet that you can run your air bag tubing through to the rear. Works well for me. The tubing comes out running to the rear but I added a little silicone to keep any errant water out of the cab.

Regards,
Bob

son of a gun:
That grommet under the front mat, does it have something else passing through it as well?

So far I've installed the compressor in a little dead space beside the accross the bed fuel tank a perfect place and nicely out of the weather and the storage tank resides on the side of the frame directly below it, the gauges are going to be placed straight up from the throttle as high as I can get them while still being on a flat area.
I've also decided to mount two valves one on each side to the running board kick plates. Because my truck is so long this will allow me to check tires on each side and have plenty of hose.Actually the more air lines you string to different places the more air storage you have. Stu

Well I finished the install with the exception of the electrical. For the world of me I cannot understand why GM never installed some kind of fuse boxes (switched and unswitched) for add-ons. This has been my biggest challenge. This compressor take a 20 Amp switched circuit where do you find such a HD circuit, I could sure do with some helpfull suggestions. Stu hlbrsma@aol.com

Why not put a relay in one of the already switched circuts and let the relay switch a new fused line. Then you can take the load on the relay and not an existing circut. Most relays are rated for 30 amps.

I had a stereo shop do exactly what a5150nut suggusted. It's a very clean install and I've got plenty of power for the compressor for my Kelderman Air Suspension,
