I got my Leer Top installed today. I really like it and can see out better while backing than I thought I would. The paint match is perfect. I have not driven in the rain yet so I can't comment on leaks. I did put in a dust/water seal around the tailgate sealing area.

David,

Looks Great! That's the same shell I have and I'm very happy with it. Perfect color match and no leaks. Oh, and nice looking truck, too...even if it is the wrong color.

Hey Dave,

THis is a stupid question, but what cap is that. I cann't tell. Is it the 122 like I have? Any difference in milage? If so, increase, decrease, by how much????? Get back to us.

I got the 100R. Its the cab high model with the framed rear door with the standard t-handle locks, which in my past expierence has been the most durable and trouble free.

No milage numbers as I haven't ran a full tank yet with the cap on, and my truck only has 1800 miles on it; still breaking in. My first and 2nd tanks have been 17mpg.

On the highway it seems like I feel less wind drag so I am hoping I will see a mpg increase as long as I can settle my foot down :D

Gentlemen , how easy is the Leer top to put on and take off ? Do you need more than two people to do this ? Any advice in this connection as I would need to put it on and take it off quite a bit given my needs.

I don't know how heavy the Leer is, but my dads old aluminum(sp?) top isn't heavy at all. He rigged up a harness system in his garage to lift and lower the cap on the truck.

Thanks David.
Do any other of you Leer cap owners have any advice on putting the cap on and taking it off if it needs to be done regurlarly ??
Your advice would be appreciated.

Hey There,

If you have to take the top off regularily, I would get a tono cover instead. They are to hard to take off and put back on all the time. In saying that, for me it is different as I have the Leer 122 which is bigger than the R, however weigh about the same. My 122 is 220 pounds. Two guys with long arms could lift it off, but as I said if you have to do that regularily, get a Leer tonno instead. You save some money and can take it off yourself. Let us know what you end up doing.
