I have a set of 305/70/16 tires that i want to mount on rims for hunting season and truck pulls. What kind of backspacing should 16x8 rock crawlers have to look normal on my truck? Any one with pictures of 305's and 16x8, please post. Thanks Robert
Hey Robert,
From the looks of it, no one has tried these tires. I think backspacing is the key. I'm hoping these H2 wheels with 5.5" bs will give me the right combination.

let me know if the 305x70x17's on the H2 rims fit. If the H2 rims dont' work I'll get a set of 17x9 Mickey Thompson Classic II's with 5" backspace for my 33x12.50x17 TrXus MT's

Michael,
I decided to stay away from any polished aluminum wheels. Too much upkeep. I had Boyd's billets on my '97. Always hazed out on me. TOO MUCH POLISHING.
I had Mickey Thompson/Alcoa's before. Same thing.
I made it a point to get chrome this time.

I've got 305-16s on American Eagle wheels, no lift. Tiny bit of rubbing on my mudflaps attached to my running boards, will take a bit of shaving to eliminate that. Wouldn't rub on a stock truck if you have the front end leveled with the torsion bars.
Here are pics: http://www.pbase.com/sfrakes/eagle_wheels_16x8
The wheels are 4.5" BS and work great, the tires are awesome as well, have not gotten stuck in the sand yet towing 10K trailer with 2WD and 55psi in the tires. If I ever feel I'm losing traction, I'll air down to 15psi or so. The tires are super quiet on the road and 3525lb cap.
Regards, Steve
It's about time you chimed in on this debate Steve. ;)
Thanks.
Looks like they'll fit fine.
Your Eagles look great. I forgot you had them.

Steve thanks for the pics and info, that is just what I was looking for. I am running my 295's without trimming or rubbing so maybe the 305's will fit fine with new backspacing.
