I'm looking for bed rail covers with the stake holes already cut in, for 2002 HD 8ft box. Can you make any recommendations?

I have the flexible ones from GM. They are very inexpensive, durable and do not scratch the paint from movement since they do not move like the hard plastic ones. Just ordered another set from partszoneonline.com for 36.18. not a bad price.

I have the polished aluminum rail caps made by DeeZee and I really like them. They are mounted with two-sided tape and two small bolts on each side. They cost me $120 (Can) so it should be $60 or so in the US.
You can order them with or without stake holes as well.

I'm also looking for bed rail caps. Has anyone seen any plastic ones that have an insert to cover the holes when not needed? My F-150 has these and I really like them. I would love to have them on my new 2500HD Dmax crewcab(due on 3/20/02). Why can't such an inexpensive item come standard on a $40,000 truck?

Crafty,

The Aluminum looks nice now. Do you think they will scratch more than plastic or stainless over time?

I have WADE brand on my 02 Shortbed. The first set I ordered with stake holes but found they were not cut for an exact fit ( hole locations were off ). Anyway the store took them back and got me another set w/o the holes in them. I have since mounted a diamond plate alum. toolbox up front and BULLRING pop up tie-downs in the rear stake holes.( after cuting my own holes ).

My truck has black flares and these match the flares and the tailgate protector perfectly. They adhere w/ double side tape.

They look factory and I did quite alot of research for accessories before my truck came in.

Good Luck :D

Because I have a tarp frame mounted on top of the rail covers, they don't get too much abuse. I have found that they stand up quite well to scratches etc unless something sharp comes in contact with them. If that was the case, the plastic ones would mark up pretty easy too. I had the very same thing on my last truck which I kept for 15 years. The rail covers still looked new when I traded it.

I really like the seatcovers. They came from Seatcovers Unlimited and then I had them custom embroidered. It adds a very nice touch I
think :D :D :D

Crafty,

May I ask where you purchased your DZ rail covers, on-line or locally?

I got mine fro a local AutoGraphics place in town for $120 Can. but most truck accessory stores sell them as well. In Ontario the biggest chain is Van & Truck World but there are lots of other places too.

I know this is a long time after the fact but just in case you are still checking this topic I have but one word for your rails...LINEX...get the entire bed sprayed plus over the rails. It's bullet proof! I love mine. I even had my Retrax bed cover rails sprayed by my LINEX dealer and they're awesome. :D

I agree with the line-x, I often walk on the rails when loading etc. The line-x offers a good footing.
