Buddy of mine just dropped off a brand new Putnam 5'er/gooseneck combo. It was free cause he has never used it and will never use it. It also came with universal mounting brackets. Should I use the universal mounting brackets or get mounting brackets desinged for the 2500HD?

Its a Putnam 23K 5th Wheel and Gooseneck.

Thanks in advance for the help...

I wish had buddies like you have!!!

Look at the mounting rails and the hole alignments to the frame brackets that would be mounted below. If they line up ok with your frame, then use the Universal. The custom rail has holes that line up perfectly for installation on a 2500. I ordered custom rails, cost about $90 less brackets.

Good Luck!

You could say it was a nice buddy... I thanked him a 100+ times :D . As for the mounting brackets, it looks like everything lines up but I didnt know if there were holes already in the frame for mounting or if you needed to drill them for the brackets that mount to the frame. So I guess my question is: If I got the correct mounting brackets I would not need to drill my frame? Thanks
