Allright, I posted on what tires to get, still gonna stick with the BFG's AT-KO. But am I making a mistake going with 265's? Do they crown bad on these 6.5" rims. Do the sidewalls bulge out ridiculously? What about the lesser load range, but same weight rating. Hows the ride characteristics?(I knows its got to be better) How bad do they squat with some weight on back? Ive been searching through tons of posts looking for a up-close pic of 265's on stock rims. Found one guy, no up close pics. Started checking out different sizes at BFG.com. 235-85-16 are the same height as 265's and 1/4" narrower than 245's but do have a E load range(still same weight as 265's=3,042 pounds). The 235 BFG's are going for 118 dollars out the door compared to 143 for the 265's. What do you think I should do. The load range is all that scares me. I dont 5th wheel. I do trailer a landscape trailer thats about 2 tons. And the occasional load of firewood. Id really like to go with 265s but would like to hear from some owners before I leave a deposit on tires. The 235's will look tiny. I put a set on a GMC 4x4 before. The 265's are not that much bigger than the 245. I've seen lot's of them on stock wheels.

If you are OK with a little more height, the 255/85 seems to be popular with the DMaxer's. They are the same height as the 285/75, just narrower and fit great on the oem wheel.

Thechevyman brings up a good point. If you look at the tirerack spec charts for these tires:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec***p?make=BFGoodrich&model=All-Terrain+T%2FA+KO
You will see that the 245 75 16 have a load range of "e" at 80 psi and a max load of 3042 lb, the 265 75 16 are load range "d" and have the same max load at lesser pressure. I would think that the 265 75 16's are a clear choice because of a softer ride with less pressure while still offering the same max load and a more desirable size that "thechevyman" is looking for. So where does the load range figure in to this particular equation? I'm confused. Dave

Bass-on tap. I called up BFG and asked. The lady I talked to could'nt really answer the question why two tires carry the same weight yet have different load ranges. They stated its based up the number of plies the tire has. I believe that D range generally have 8 ply and E has 10 ply.She said I am not allowed to run that tire on my truck (BS). Im just gonna go with the 265's I just hope they dont look dumb on these narrow stock rims. I actually had a dually with stock tires that were a D range and what the hell is the reason with that? If D range meet my stock tire in terms of weight capacity then thats kosher to me. 65 psi sounds alot nicer riding than rock hard 80 psi. Just as long as they wear fine Ill be happy. But I would like to have some say how theres are wearing on stock rims. Bill

I have 265's and they look alot better than the 245's. I was going to go for 285's but didn't want any problems. A buddy of mine has 265 BFG's on his '00 2500 with the same rims we have. It looks very nice. I am not a fan of BFG myself anymore. I had a few problems with some.
My 265's are load range E Steeltex. They were the only tire recomended by my tire guy for a diesel pickup.

chevyHDman, I don't know where in CT you live but, you're more than welcome to check out my truck. They seem to be wearing even and do hold a load of firewood no problem.

I've got a set of 265 Kelly Safari MSR's on my truck and I haven't seen a problem with them. They look nice. The inside of the front tires did have some noticable wear after about 7,000 miles but all in all they aren't bad. They are a little more aggressive than I wanted and I think my next set will be more of the all-terrain type. I haven't noticed anything bad towing with them (8,000 to 10,000# gooseneck flatbeds and cattle trailers).

Cromwell, and I'd gladly meet up with you boys for some Buds. Although, I'm not sure you should try towing with those Chevys since they come with the hitches that were rejected from the GMC line. ;)

Hey thechevyhdman,

I put BFG 285's on mine when it had 5 miles on it. I broke it in (500 miles) then towed a 13K 5'r 3500 miles and like the 285's. I cranked the bars up 4 turns, but when running w/out the 5th wheel, I get some tire rub on the mud flaps, seems to be primarily on the drivers side when turning hard left.
