Hello-

I will be receiving my new '06 Duramax at the end of August, and I had to get the power extend mirrors which I neither want or need. Is there somewhere to buy the old style ('03) mirrors with the power fold, turn indicator and heat?

Conversely, if anyone wants a trade or has some takeoffs they would be willing to sell, that would be great.

Thanks,
Steven

My 03 3500 GMC came with towing mirrors from the factory. They have heat, power extending, power everything, and turn signal in the mirror, plus fold. However, the fold is manual.

So you could see while towing, the old style was worthless for towing. :eek:

Hello;
I have a set of o3 powerfold,turnsignal, and heat equipped takeoffs that I would either sell or trade. Interested in the new trailering mirror as I have a set of powervision power extenders I'm not real thrilled with. Gotta before TNT mirrors came out

Just saw the new tow mirrors. They are configured like Ford mirrors but the glass is even larger. They look like they would do a great job. But, man are they ugly. When I first saw them I tought they were aftermarket mirrors because they did not stand vertical. They are tipped a little like they are not made for the truck.
Has anyone used these? Do they extend far enough to see around an 8' trailer?

Thanks for the replies, it looks as though my truck will NOT have the mirrors, so I should be Okay, I will find out on Tuesday next week.

Thanks,
Steven

Go to the "Website Update" forum and look at "Articles for August" Jim has a nice pic of the new 06 mirrors. Wish I had'em my 01 mirrors suck like nobodies business! Also, why do they include the convex mirror crap? I would prefer the full length mirror and add my own round convex....but that's just me.

Ooops! My bad...it's in a sticky in the "2500/3500...Drivetrain" forum, GM's 2006 model-year pickup trucks.

Sorry for the confusion.

GM discontinued the Powervision mirrors due to mechanical (warranty) issues. I've also converted quite a few guys from fully functional Powervisions to the Schefenacker/TTT mirrors so that they can actually see something.

The 06 mirrors are said to be miniaturized versions of the Ford mirrors (yuck) but I haven't seen them in person yet...

I have a 2006 with the towing mirrows,,love them.
I pull a 32 foot fifth wheel and can see great with them.
I set the large mirrow so I can see along side of the trailer and whats coming up behind me. I then set the small mirrow so I can see whats in the lane right beside me.
They work well for me, I agree the don't look as nice but does that really matter when you need to know whats behind you..
They do crate a blind spot when looking out the side window, but you get used to it quickly.

Does anyone know how much farther out the Schefenacker/TTT mirrors extend vs. the Powervision mirrors? I would consider replacing mine (have already had one replaced by Chevy under warranty) if I could get the extra extension to see around my trailer.

Hello;
I went out and measured my power visions and it looks to me like the TTT will go out 2 to 3 more inches depending on wha angle you have th p visions set at where they mount to door. Also ordered a set of TTT today y'all convinced me :D

I have an '06 with the camper mirrors (manually extending). Other than the manual part, I really like them the way they are setup and do much the same as mentioned above by JimEd. It's all relative based on what you've had/used in the past, but no complaints so far. I kinda like the style ... in a big-square-block-mounted-to-the-side-of-the-truck kinda way. :D

Do you think that the 06 mirrors will go onto an 03 LT and have the heat and signals work? Do they power extend as well?

Hello, another question. Will the new mirrors on the 06 with the turn signal option work on a 02 without turn signal option. Would you have to run new wires to work the turn signals, or is there a harness to hook up to? Thanks

I had a pair of aftermarket power/heat mirrors on my 02. They are better than stock ones, and did a nice job. I saw the new 06 mirrors and they look like the best stock GM has had so far. I just got a great deal on a pair of Schefenacker/TTT power/heated from a friend, and I replaced my aftermarket mirrors with them. They are the best! They have more "look around a wide trailer vision" and a great spot mirror. I was really impressed with how steady they are at high speed. No jitters. My truck did not come with power or heated mirrors.Originally it had the stock(optional non power) slide outs. When I replaced them I found the factory wires under the arm rest next to the"power window door lock buttons" that were for the factory heat and tilt heat function and put a factory tilt and pan switch in. Then I bought a new heater fan control ,temp, switch assembly that is on the dash the one that has the rear window defrost button switch on it. Mine didn't have that button from the factory. I just plugged it in and I have power/heat mirrors. I was lucky that the wiring harness was there already. As for the different years, I know you can buy a multiplexer wire adapter to convert the 02 mirrors to the 03's and up models. But just guessing I would think you might have to rewire the 03 and up factory mirrors with the 02 and earlier connector. Some one else on the forum like one of the Techs may have more knowledge on that. Good luck.
