Anyone tell me how long they have the delay set up for, mine is at 30 seconds and seems to be way too long? I have model 4104.

Thanks for any help!

Same unit as you but, the unit is waiting to crank until the wait to start light goes out. When the truck is warm it cranks in just about 5 seconds or less. The installer told me that the Duramax is different than the old 6.2 & 6.5s in that the engine cranks with the glow plugs on. Hope some of this info helps.

Jimmy O,

So what should I set it at, the installer said he can change it pretty easily to crank at whatever he wants? I just sit in the truck, see the glow plug light come on for a very short period of time, and then the remote waits forever before cranking, well the plugs will be getting cold by the time the starter is engaged? What do you think? It has been starting fine, just want the best you know.

Sold you 8.1? I was the one that posted the question on the comparison, I guess that started a little discussion huh?

I think the unit is wired to the wait to start light. When the light goes out the unit will then crank the motor. So on a cold start it waits awhile --- Warm start cranks very quick. My father-inlaw has a Duramax with Astro Start wired the same as yours ---- it always waits 30 seconds, like yours it always starts. My truck was wired by a very picky installer who is not shy to go after the proper wires to make the unit operate perfectly --no short cuts. I could e-mail you the guys name and number if you want the low down on how it is wired. The dealership wired my father in laws. Sorry, for the long post. ;)
