DON'T KNOW ABOUT A SYSTEM. I GOT THE K & N OEM REPLACEMENT AND LEFT OFF THE TOP OF THE AIR CLEANER BOX. IT SEEMS TO BE WORKING OK AND THE AIR FILTER WAS ABOUT 80.00.

AEM Brute Force has just released a dry synthetic filter that looks interesting. They claim 1 micron filtering with no oil. I have been concerned about over oiling and problems with MAF sensor. This looks like a good solution. Any comments?

bill signs,

We ONLY sell the AFE Pro Guard 7 systems as they stop the dirt but flow the air, here's some test data done independently for you to look at:

In the order of filtering efficiency the results are:
FILTER % Efficiency
AC Delco OE 99.93%
Baldwin 99.72%
No name filter (made for gas engine, 1/3 less pleats) 99.32%
AFE ProGuard 7 (73-10062), panel filter 99.23%
WIX/Napa 99.03%
Purolator 98.73%
Amsoil, new style 98.63%
UNI 97.93%
K&N 96.80%

FLOW RESTRICTION FROM BEST TO WORST:
FILTER RESTRICTION in Inches H2O
K&N 4.54
Mystery bargain filter 4.78
AFE Pro Guard 7 Panel 4.99
Purolator 5.05
WIX/Napa 5.06
UNI 5.40
Baldwin 5.71
Amsoil 5.88
AC Delco 6.23
TOTAL DIRT PASSING THE FILTER DURING THE TEST. This is how much dirt your engine will take in if you use the filter for the duration that would cause the filter to become "dirty" enough to need replacement or cleaning. The "Dirt Passing The Filter" is the dirt collected by the "Post Filter" during the test.
FILTER DIRT IN GRAMS PASSED
AC Delco 0.4 g
Baldwin 1.1g
AFE Pro Guard 7 1.8g
Mystery Bargain 2.4g
Amsoil 2.7g
WIX/Napa 4.4g
Purolator 5.0g
K&N 6.0g
UNI 7.9g
Note: The Purolator was reported to have a seal malfunction during the test and passed more dirt than it would have with a good seal.
Interesting. SPICER

Hey Mark where are you located in Nashville? I lived in Madison for a while, Worked for Kile International for that time (what a joke) Dated a girl in Lavergne part of the time, had some buddies in Brentwood, and cousins in Franklin so I've been around the area several times.

I have an 'Air Force One' intake system and have to say that it helped the lower rpm's( plus the turbo whistle is cool). I believe that they use a oiled type filter but going on 6 months no problems.

I lived just off of exit 92 on Due West Ave ( at the north end of Ellington PKY). Spent a lot of time running around and shopping w/ a local girl @ Cool Springs Galleria. My buddy Derek, helped manage Taylor Diesel. Man I could go on forever about what, when and where it went down in Nashville. Good times there but too much trouble for me to get into. I was just through there on my way to Hurricane Mills last weekend.

After a lot of looking around on the web I settled on the true flow which I just ordered. Foam type filtering is a tried and true method of filtering from all that I read. They advertise <3um filtering as K&N types only filter to 5um and still maintain great flow. The questions I still have are: Does it really make that much difference? Are they really better than paper?
