I have a 2001 3500 CC duallie and have just ordered a fifth wheel trailer. I am unsure what hitch to install in my truck. To me the air suspension hitch is the way to go. Can anybody out there give me some advice?

I installed a B&W hitch on a buddys ride (he only needed a gooseneck ball) fifth wheel accessory is available. A little pricy but the ONLY way to go. I think their website is www.turnoverhitch.com (http://www.turnoverhitch.com) .

Ray, I pulled my 38' 5th wheel with a Reese 15k in my old Dodge, alot of creaking and popping, but it worked. They I put in the Turnover ball / companion hitch setup, what a difference! No more creaking etc, and it just felt more solid, the trailer didn't seem to bounce the truck around as bad (could be difference from GMC to Dodge ;) ) I was very pleased with it, plus you don't have the rails or anything in the floor of the pickup when the hitch is removed. I recently traded my 5th wheel in on a motorhome, so I don't need the hitch anymore, email me if you'd be interested in it.

I also have the B&W with the 5th wheel Companion. No rails in the way in the bed. The 5th hitch pivots on rubber pads, to absorb vibration. The 5th plate pivots side to side, mounted with a shock absorber. May cost a little more than others, goose frame mounted hitch was $325, and the 5th wheel adapter was $600, and I would buy it again. You can also pull a gooseneck.
Don't know much, or have any experience with the Air Ride type hitches.

You don't say what size 5er you ordered. If it is rather large, 30ft plus, an air hitch sure helps.
I have the advanced air hitch. It has four air bags, and my 36ft TETON 5er just floats behind the truck.
There are other options. Trailair makes an air bag kingpin assembly that stays on the trailer.
