Code 17,18

[5.7L oldsdiesel]

Well guys,i have codes 17 and 18 on a friends 95'6.5TD 2500 series pickup.I did a search of these codes on this website.Does this mean the injection pump is on its way out?I did'nt get codes 35 and 36.

What should i do to fix this?Is a new pump necessary?It responds well to the fuel pedal,and it runs smooth,so i'm wondering what i should do about this problem.

That pair of codes pretty much condemns the pump and puts it in a form of back up mode. A fresh pump should spice things up a bit by putting the computer back into a normal mode.
