Disconnect each of the wires on the glow plugs and with an ohm meter check each plug to ground for continuity. If you find a plug that will not conduct you have found a bad plug and could be causeing the missing. Replace any bad plugs and try again in the am.

Forgot to mention. If all the plugs check good replace all the wires and then one by one remove a wire and while the glow plugs are cycling check each wire you have removed for 12 volts during the cycle.
No voltage on a given wire is most likely a broken wire. Same effect as a bad plug.

All the plugs and wires are fine .Any other thoughts on what else might be wrong

Other ideas include one or more bad injectors or cylinders low on compression...

Would injectors be the problem
just on start up .It only happens for the first 6 secounds or so .then it seems to run like a champ

If the injector has a bad spray pattern it could cause a cold misfire due to poor atomization of fuel.
