Just for everyone's info, I recently got my hands on an Extang Saber soft-tonneau cover for my D/A. Needing the long-bed model, it took me a while to find a supplier that would give it to me at a reasonable price. The 8' rails made shipping to Alaska a real problem. I finally picked one up for $300 out the door.

FrozenAKJoe,
Might I suggest a soft tonneau cover that solves all of the problems that you stated, as well as adds other benefits? I have owned Extang-like covers previously, but from here on out, I will only own a Truxedo. Around here, I have already noticed a gain in the popularity of this cover and it can be purchased for a little less than $100 more that what you paid for the Extang. If you are interested in more details, check out the link in my sig. I have owned mine for a year and I have nothing but good things to say about it...in fact, I have gotten two friends to try it out and they agree.

I had the same problem with mine last week reinstalling the top in 25 degree weather. I took a Torpedo heater in one truck blowing into the back of my truck. Took 2 minutes....I do admit that they are a huge PIA, but in the spring and summer I dont know of an easier one to put back on. I looked at the Pace Edwards before I bought the Extang Sabre but the $600.00 price steered me away fast. Havent seen the Truxedo before but will check it out now after hearing about it.
