Well, I bought some wheels a couple of weeks ago and shopped for tires to go on them. My friend finally found some great tires: 305/70-16 Baja Widetrack load range E, supposedly made by Dunlop for (Remington?) All it says is Baja Widetrack and the size, but they're load range E and they're fantastic! They're silent on the fwy at all speeds, great traction in the dirt, great loking tread pattern, lots of tread depth and they were only $100 ea!

I'll post pics in a few minutes. PS, the wheels look pretty good, too.

Here's the picture gallery, enjoy.

I'm really impressed with the load range, 3525lbs and they're very smooth riding, totally silent on the fwy.

Where did you get them? Any clearance problems? I need load range E as I destroy all load range D, but my studded 235/75/17 E snow tires aired to 85 lbs don't break, last longer, and wear better. I want a 285E, but the 305 is only about an inch wider. Nitto makes one as well, but it is about $150.

gardnerteam,

I got them from a local trailer dealer (buddy) they should be avail. at any tire store. I believe he said they were Remington (made by Dunlop) but I'll verify Mon.

I had to tie back the front of the plastic fenderwell on both sides, and trim the edge of the plastic airdam. I also had to trim my mudflaps that are part of my running boards, but it was all pretty minor. I still have mudflaps that are screwed on top of the fender liner, and they barely clear that.

Dave,

Yup, they provide a LOT more floatation in the sand. I was really tired of getting stuck and hoping the next truck to come by was a Chevy. A few times, it was a Ford, and they insisted on taking pics before pulling me out. How embarrassing! I've still got the 255/85s on the stock PY0s, so I'll swap tires twice/yr and rotate when I swap.

Regards, Steve

I'm curious who the MFG is too. They look like Duralon Widetracks available at Fleet Farms or Farm and Fleets in the midwest. I haven't seen this size advertised there though.

I checked, these tires are made by Firestone.

Firestone has a recall on this "line" of tires, but it involves only the 30x9.5R15 size due to a misprint of the inflation pressure on the sidewall.

For those of you who don't like Firestones, sorry for raising your hopes. It doesn't say Firestone anywhere on the tire. Based on the tread design, ride quality and low noise, I like them so far. The tire dealer also told me they have a very generous road hazard warr. that is one of the best he's seen for no extra charge.

From your pics they are sold in the midwest under the Duralon name. I did find a website confirming that Firestone makes them. Other styles I've always had good luck with both traction and wear. Unfortunatly I can't seem to find a dealer who can get them. I'll have to keep looking.
