Didn't think I was THAT good this year but Santa just delivered '03 Chevy 2500HD LT shortbox crewcab yesterday. Got the power extending camper mirrors, they look pretty cool.

Want to add lighted running boards, looking at J&J Millenium, stainless w/ integrated lights or Westin's "lighted universal step board," polymer over aluminum.

An odd priorty, maybe, but my last truck had round step bars instead of boards... and they were so narrow to step on, my two dogs never used them to get a foot hold and they'd jump all the way up onto the truck floor. Now I have a CrewCab and they'll be entering onto the folded down seats and this is high off the ground. So on new truck, I'm trying to get a wider platform that dogs might use making hopping into the truck a doable, two step process....

Westin product looks like what's on Lincoln Navigator... are they durable and strong? Can't tell depth from photos, are the J&J millenium boards more like a board or a bar? And for those that have used them, do they stick out far enough a dog might use as a foothold on the way in?

The J&J boards can be ordered with the lights already mounted, right? They look like amber running lights, do they stay on all the time with the headlights or do they turn on with courtesty lamp circuit? My goal is to get more ground light for surefooted exit and entry and a foothold for dogs. Thanks! --wheeler

I have the J&J Millennium boards (go to my web site listed in my signature and "click" on the Millennium board link to see pictures)

I ordered the boards without lights and installed my own LED lights, I hooked the lights to the parking light circuit.

The stepping surface on the boards are 6" wide and they stick out plenty far enough for "this old dog" to get in the truck :D

wheeler,

Really like the Millenium boards! You can get any configuration of amber/courtesy lights that you like.
