I have an LT with the Bose sound system. The system is supposed to have subwoofer. If it does, I can't here or "feel" it. My dealer says that it is under the console. Maybe my is disconnected because I don't feel any vibration from that area when the system is turned up. Also, isn't there supposed to be a way to adjust the midrange? I would like to here from those with this system and if you are satisfied with the sound it produces. Thanks

If you turn your bass and treble all the way up you get good crisp sound with good bass.I have and 03 the brochure doesn't tell you you have it but open both front doors with the volume up and you relizes it is not coming from the doors.take your hand up by the front of the council touching the carpet with the volume half way and you will feel the air from the sub if you don't it might not be working!

ghtey There,

I have the 2003 with the SLT package on the Sierra, and have the sub. Bob is rithg, if the center concil doesn't vibrate, or you do not have good BOSE sound, the sub might not be working, or it has been blowen. Let us know what you find.

Hi, Bob and James are right. I have an '03 3500LT and had my console out installing a Galaxy 95T CB. The bass speaker sits in the front-bottom of the console. If you decide to look at it you'll have to remove the front seats as the console has brackets that set under the front and rear inside seat mounting bolts on both the driver and passenger side seats. I had to buy a special socket to fit the front seat mounting nuts(Snap-On is proud of this little socket). I need to post pics of the CB install on this full size CB which mounts flush in the bottom console pocket allowing use of the forward cup holder. Looks nice but required quite a bit of dremmel work. If you decide to take the console out let me know and I'll tell you a few other extraction facts.

When I pulled my center console I felt bad that I'd be losing the subwoofer. Listening tests with it connected and disconnected revealed that I lost nothing. I could hear its presence - very faintly - only with the bass cranked full up. And I don't run the bass all the way up. My conclusion is that the purpose of the subwoofer is to add another line item to the marketing brochures.

Must be something wrong with your sub woofer. I can really hear mine pounding away. A lot depends on what you listen to.

Mine works fine, althought it is not the loudest.

I am contemplating of putting a 7" tube behind the back seat in my crew cab.

Has anyone used a tube instead of just using smaller speaker boxes? The thing I liked about the tubes was I could get a powered one and have everything easily contained, and removable if need be.

I dont have the time to have a custom box made and go through several truck mods to get it to fit.

I dont need ground shaking bass either. I will miss having the dual 12"s in a bandpass box in my Burb. So I just want something that has some meat to it, much more than the factory bose setup.

I bought a duel 10" box for my X cab that fits under the rear seat. Once I resealed the box it sounds great. I am using the 10" Rockford DVC subs with a 750 watt Rockford amp at 4 ohms.

I lost the under seat storage but oh well. I thought the factory Bose setup was a rip so I didn't get that on my truck, just the base system. I replaced the head unit and door speakers and still lacked good sound so i went with the subs. Sounds great now.

Do you mind sharing where you bought your box at? I have only seen one vendor listing such a box on ebay.

In anticipation of using a single 10" box behind the back seat, I have removed the flaps that cover the storage area, and bent down the one bracket that is welded to the rear wall and can now fit a single box in there easily. I don't really want to do much more modification than that. I already have a new 10" sub so I figure I'll start with a single setup.

I'm also interested to see your behind-the-rear-seat sub install.

I had a JL Stealthbox in my '02 Extended Cab - sounded GREAT - but it won't fit in my '04 Crew Cab. Figure it'd be nice to still fold the seats down, so if I can get away with NOT building a custom under-seat box, I will. It'd be nice to put it behind the rear seat. One 10" is plenty - my Stealthbox had a 12 and that was great. I don't need ghetto bass - just something that is tight, clean, and audible.

My '04 also came with the Bose... and I must be spoiled, because it sounds HORRIBLE. ALL I get is midrange. I've got to have the treble CRANKED to get any highs, and adding bass doesn't add lows, it just adds midrange. Granted, I didn't order the truck this way, it just happened to have it. But I'm a little disappointed in it. I was hoping that since it had the Bose setup I could hold off on installing my other stereo.

My subwoofer box came today, so over lunch I put my new sub in the box and soldered the wires to the connector. I didn't have time to do any wiring, but I was able to get the box and amp located where I want them.

Ok, after a few hours of work lastnight, I got my subwoofer installed.

I did a complete write up on it, with pictures.

Click on the link which says subwoofer install. It works well and certainly improves the level of bass notes in the truck.
