F.Y.I.,

I ordered my General Motors (AC Delco) locking fuel cap (AC Delco part # GT250) from ac-direct.com. A bargain for only $6.23. Comes with two keys.

;) Check out my photo album to see a picture of the locking gas cap.

P.S. While you're at ac-direct.com, you may as well order some AC Delco oil filters (PF2232) @ $8.75 each and have them throw in the locking cap to save on shipping charges. :D

Reno,

Have you received the cap yet? Does it come with the teather for hanging the cap on the hook on the fuel door while filling up?

mattb5150,

The cap does not come with the teather. You have to remove it from your non-locking cap and install it on the locking cap.

Use the family hair drier to soften up the teather, you will find the plastic becomes quite plyable and easy to exchange caps, I always stuff the key holes with axil grease prevents the tumblers from freezing in winter, (hard to put diesel in with a frozen lock).

good luck

Letsgo,

Wish I had seen your tether tip (hair dryer heat) before I did the transfer yesterday! It was a pain, but with persistence, I overcame. Thanks for passing on the advice to help others in the future.

Thanks Reno,
Wouldn't have even thought about it if I hadn't seen this thread.
Just received and installed mine today.
Didn't heat up the tether either.
Just grabbed the wide part of the ring and pulled it off. Pretty easy.
IMO very cheap insurance. It's an obstacle that vandals probably won't bother with. Who knows what foreign substances kids might want to dump in your fuel tank, thinking it's a joke

Just installed mine today also. For those of you who are interested the GM part number on the package is listed as 15070014.

Thanks for the tip on the cap and filters! Interesting that the locking cap cost less than the oil filters.

Best price I could get from the stealer was over $12.

Does the locking cap have a key lock or combination lock?

I'm interested...

Diesel Duck,

Two keys stamped 'FUEL' are included. The locking cap has the exact same graphics on it as the OEM.
