F.Y.I,

Just finished installing NuImage Platinum Series instrument cluster gauge faces (part #PG104). They have the correct RPM graduations, Diesel Fuel text etc. The faces are silver with dark blue itallic style lettering. At night, the panel is black with really sharp blue fluorescent numbers. The upper limit RPM graduations, among others, are an eye catching bright red.

Being overly careful, it took me just over an hour to install, including the heat/A.C. panel.

nuimage1.com takes you to truckintrends.com when you click on NuImage's "buy now" button.

When you go to truckintrends.com choose either:

White Background --
http://www.truckintrends.com/whitegauges.asp?id=1003&make=12&cat=4

White Background Flaming --
http://www.truckintrends.com/flaminggauges.asp?id=1002&make=12&cat=1

Black Background Flaming
http://www.truckintrends.com/blackgauges.asp?id=1001&make=12&cat=22

Platinum Background
http://www.truckintrends.com/silvergauges.asp?id=1000&make=12&cat=2

The typeface/font for the HD Diesel is itallicized like that on the Cadillac Escalade cluster.

Finally, I ordered mine through stylinconcepts.com because the shipping charges were $9.95 (priority U.S mail)

See pictures of the gauge faces on my truck below...

I myself have been hemming and hawing about doing this.....My autometer gauge faces are silver and would like to do instrument cluster.....My hold back is the "blue" color.....The contrast from the bal. of console lighting may look a bit odd at night.....I believe the sell blue condoms for the autometer to match.....

They discontinued the retaining the stock color cluster, their quote "no one wanted them"..HHMMM they should have checked with me....

I'm still checking around.....

Wish you could give some real pics....Can't ya borrow a camera....

Send me a $600 dollar deposit I'll fedex you mine snap some picks on the memory card, send it back....Not that I don't trust ya,I just don't know anyone in Nevada to collect,or call on ya...... ;)

Mackin,

The flash was not used on the cheapo 8 year old Sony Mavica digital camera. I had the drivers' side door open and the sun was shinning fairly brightly. They do not look white but rather a silvery platinum

At night, the platinum guage faces are completely blacked out. To compare the NuImage blue to the stock AC Delco blue on the radio -- The Delco blue looks dull and on the green side compared to the electric blue of the NuImage faces.

I uploaded a picture of the NuImage black background with flames gauges from truckintrends.com. Check out my revised pics. This is what my gauges look like at night, sans flames.

Reno

So do you like??No complaints??? Does the ac/heater controls now have the same lighting? My only hitch I have to doing is finding blue condoms for my gauges on the pillar......

Thanks

Mackin,

Yes, I am happy with the gauge faces. The platinum climate control face matches perfectly. They both light up in a really nice blue color.

Have been tossing this idea around for a while also. The pictures do it justice but I would like more info on the actual install. It was said the job was done in an hour? Let us mechanicly challenged folks in on the do's and dont's of this mod.

Mechanically inclined?

I have never worked on any vehical until I bought my Chevy Duramax last November.

The hardest part of the installation was un-plugging the instrument cluster. The connector is tight.

OK I ordered the new gauge face......I was going to get the black flame but chickened out,if they weren't blue illuminated at night,I'd have them.....Platinum Should be here next week.....

Now that I'm looking around my dash I see there will be a mix of lighting ...I was able to get the BLUE condoms for my Auto meter gauges....I'll either use them or go clear.....

Who's been poking around in there and can tell me what type of bulb illuminates around HVAC and headlight control, airbag switch, etc???? Wondering if possible to change or sock it.....Or it may become to dark....I'm going to play around with it I guess....Going to retain stock lighting in 4x4 area .......Unless I can white or clear it all......That would be Ideal......

Check out my Knobs in More D/A PICS......Some Billet !!!!! Once I change my head unit it's going to look sharp as hell,I think.....We'll see......

Mackin,

I'm sure you'll like the new face(s). Did you order the climate control face also?

Tips:

1. Make sure you are completely full on fuel.

2. Sketch out your intrument cluter THEN start your COLD truck and quickly make a mark on your sketch showing the needle positions.

☺ Turn off the truck, place the shift lever in 1 and remove the bezel and instrument cluster

☺ I used the supplied needle removal tool to gently pry up the stock face that is glued down. Worked my around the perimeter and found a spot that came up easier than the rest. (Be patient and careful). Then I kept wedging the tool until it all came off.

☺ Keep a lint free cloth available to make sure the new face and clear pastic cover are dust free.

☺ When it comes time to put the needles back on, you're going to do this with the truck running so that they will be in an accurate position. Don't seat them completely, but just enough that they will stay on. I removed the cluster a second time to seat the needles, did a final cleaning, and then reinstalled the clear plastic cover.

☻ I should have documented the install. I'll leave that to you and you're cool camera.

Have fun!

P.S. Where did you pick up the billet knobs?

Well, I started on it today...Up loaded some PICS in More DA (knobs and gauges)...I didn't get to technical since it's real easy to do.....All most done, just have to set needles in the freezing cold in the mourning....I have to draw the diagram from the pics I took first.....I did a NIGHT shot but it's a bit bright do to the fact the needle holes are open, and plastic lens is off.....All follow up with completed PICS tomorrow.....

Mackin,

The pictures of the instrument cluster gauge faces look great! Your camera takes fantastic pictures. Are you happy with the color match between the cluster and your pod?

Did you take your instrument cluster apart to so you could check out the lamps?

I really like the way they look .......Was a real easy task to complete......The day time LOOK with the Silver faced gauges, cluster, and now head unit, match nicely.... I feel is a nice change to the sometimes non flashy interior....Don't get me wrong GM has the best dash layout of the big three, but dark back ground.....

Haven't bothered with changing pillar lighting as when I'm off in the next two weeks I'm adding a tranny temp gauge to my pod, and I will "SOCK" my bulbs then I know once this is done it will look fabulous at night.....

My only glitch I find is the gauge cluster is a tad on the dark side at night......Hence my request for the bulb number in another thread as I was going to try to up the wattage if possible.....Don't be confused with PIC without pointers installed, once covered it changed illumination....

Other then that, which I could live with ,but would like to fine tune , I would do it again in a heart beat.....Anybody who has seen it in person says it looks dam good.....Thanks for being the pioneer on this and the assistance on the install tips....That camera came in handy .....I took a PIC of the gauge cluster stock, cold @ idle, then brought them up on the screen to set gauge pointers, afterwards,in the truck....I'm a lousy artist.... ;)
