Is $17 a good buy for these bulbs?

I think I paid $20 a bulb locally.

Yes

I was looking at them online before and the cheapest I found was 45 + S&H for highs or lows.

Are the SilverStars a worthwhile upgrade ? I'm assuming most people would just replace the low beams ?

They are great!! Best light I have ever used. I replaced all 4. Found them at an independant Autozone for $19 a piece. Well worth the money. They even had an internet coupon for a $10 rebate at the time. The light seems to be a true white light. I only wish they would make some for our sorry fog lights.

FWIW -- My local Wal-Mart carries these as well. They're $38 for a package of 2. Apparently W-M just started carrying them so you might want to "price shop" there as well.

You can go to the website and print out a rebate form, also. I love my SilverStars.

The amount of white light for the money and a John Kennedy four-headlamp harness are money well spent.

TxDoc:

I thought that rebate had expired -- do you still have a link to the coupon site (I searched Sylvania's site and couldn't find it)?

Now that Phillips discontinued the Rally series, we have their Premium series which are equal/better than the Silverstars and when purchased in the Deluxe HB kit are only $17.50ea.

Scott It could have. The last time I looked it was there, as I used it. If you just looked and it's gone, they may have pulled it. It would be worth a few seconds of sending them an email to see if it is still available.

How hard are these to get at to change??

Easy. Open hood. Pull 2 pins out on the top of the headlight housing. Pull housing out. Unplug harness. Replace bulbs with new ones. Plug in harness. Replace housing . Insert 2 retaining pins. Close hood. Enjoy.

Diesel/Vette,

Bonney Lake AutoZone. It is an independant so it carries other items other than AutoZone. You won't find it listed on their website because it is an independant. It had the best price and I checked around! They are an excellent light.

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you.
