2003 chime

Has anyone discovered how to disable the door/light chime on the 2003 trucks?

I can turn all the lights off with the override switch.

The chime is controlled (comes from) the factory stereo and speakers. There appear to be only two volume levels- loud & deafening.

Loud & Deafening is right. I want to be able to open the door with the keys in and not hear it, as well as leave the lights on and not hear it when I get out and the truck is off.

I had heard the since they rewired the 2003's a bit that it might be a bit tougher to get rid of?

Have you tried moving the door latch to the closed position?

I would like to disable it entirely, and bypassing the door latch switch would:

1) make the dome light never come on

2) still make no difference with the headlights on & engine off

3) And I'd have to fix all 4 doors, since it goes nuts when one of the rear doors is adjar.

I wish I knew what I did so I could tell you. I was playing one day with disabling the DRL's using the parking brake. The door chime hasn't worked since. I haven't complained to anybody `cause I'm happy to not hear that BING-BING-BING anymore.
