Does anyone have pics of a bed cap on a 2001 or newer 3500?! I can't seem to find anything.

I'm curious as to how these manufacturers have dealt with the curved bedrails.

Thanks!

Gary

Try this link http://www.broadbandreports.com/forum/remark,5341358~root=devnull~mode=flat for pics of my truck, dirt and all.

It's a temporary forum on another site that posts will be deleted after 24 hours.

toophless,

That looks great! How do you like the fit and finish? Does it match the bed rails properly?

I've heard some great things about ARE and then some bad things. What are your overall impressions?

Thanks!

I couldn't be happier, I love this cap. I've heard the same pros and cons between Leer and A.R.E.
I think they're both about the same. I got it with charcoal grey carpet inside which matches the charcoal grey BedRug almost exactly.
It sits right on the plastic factory bedrail covers and fits the truck great. The finish is real nice too.

I also have an ARE Z series cap. Mine is plain inside but I love it anyway. smile.gif I've had a few different brand caps on different trucks andf this is one of the best. Of course the Z series is the most expensive cap ARE makes but it's worth it. I really like the frameless rear window and the crank out side windows.

I also ordered an A.R.E. cap. The one that got delivered looked great until we noticed it wasn't for a dually...no curved sides. Another is on it's way. Mine is also a crew cab and I understand that the rear of the crew cabs is differen't than the rest. A.R.E. sent out a notice to it's outlets that warns them to make sure EVERYTHING is spelled out exactly for the type of truck...each one has it's own mold.

Hmmmm.... I am disappointed with my ARE Z-series cap on my 2002 3500.

The rear window is all f'd up and it takes effort to close it.

The front window, I have the hinged model for cleaning, near stays closed.

The rubber around the rear side windows keeps coming loose.

I am literally at the point where I am going to demand a new one. Darn, shell is only 5 months old and cost me a pretty penny.

I am NOT happy with ARE.

Just curious how much you guys are spending on these ARE caps. I'm thinking about selling my tonneau, and getting a cap.

Also, do any of you have it mounted on top of your over-the-rail Line-X?

Thanks.

Corey,

Just noticed the Audi in your sig. Nice car. Do you ever get out to the track, or is it an auto-x car only?

I'm running a Subaru WRX in USTCC. There are pics on our website at www.teamsmr.com

Hey Gary,

Wow, been a while since I've been on this board.

Yeah, I know about you, although I don't think we've met. The Audi is a dedicated Solo2 and ProSolo car right now. We've been running it in Street Modified with some national success.

We haven't had the car on a track in over a year. In fact, last time it was on track, you were there! Or at least your car was. I remember seeing your WRX there that day, but too bad I blew the stock turbos on the 2nd lap out that morning!

The car is under continuous development, as the wallet allows of course. Sharon and I plan to road race it eventually, probably just regional stuff (ITE). In a year or two, I'm sure.

Are you running the WRX again this year?

SoCal,

Just to let you all know the 3500 series truck (all brands) beat the snot out of caps due the rough ride of the heavier springs. That being said, your rear door and front window should be able to be adjusted by your A.R.E. dealer. We have to adjust approx 50% of these for our customers. Fairly easy to do. I've never had any problems with the side window rubber coming off so I can not comment of that but your dealer should be willing to take care of it one way or another. If not let me know and I will contact our corporate office (I am an A.R.E. dealer also).
